James A. Smith RPT

I create unique works of art and practical items using some of the most interesting and beautiful wood native to the UK. This is sourced from windfalls/lightning strikes, off-cuts from furniture makers and barn builders, garden waste and even old agricultural farm buildings and fence posts. All non-native timber is from trusted and well managed sources.

All items are designed, hand turned and finished by myself to a very high quality using traditional and modern techniques in the stunning landscape of Mid-Wales, in The United Kingdom.

I've been woodturning seriously for about ten years, much of which has been professionally. I'm on the register of professional turners here in the UK, entry to which is by recommendation and assessment only, and a very high level of craftsmanship and quality of design are paramount to successful entry.

Driftwoodfolk

Created by

Barbara Becker

Back in 1995, a friend encouraged me to make something from all the lovely bits of wood we found on the beach.

I started making Driftwood Mirrors in 1995 and in 2001 Driftwoodfolk came into creation. Having showed these works to friends they felt I should sell them.

Since 1997 I have lived in the Brecon Beacons which are beautiful but my love of the sea keeps me going to the coast.

Collected wood I now have comes from the beaches around Wales; when I find them they feel to me like bits of treasure!

Each creation I make is unique; as is every piece of wood.

I am an avid fan of recycling and make use of an item rather than throwing it away! Some Driftwoodfolk have recycled tins with them so the item has a use e.g. a desk tidy.

I hope Driftwoodfolk bring a smile to your face!

Enjoy!
