Sculptors
Glenn Morris
Over the last twenty years Glenn Morris has been a regular visitor to the Arctic and has lived and hunted with the Inuit people both in Greenland and Arctic Canada.
Those experiences have helped shape Glenn as an artist and helps to supply the inspiration for his sculptures. His work attempts to demonstrate the beauty of nature, but also its brutal realities.
Glenn has a first class degree in Sculpture and he has had his pieces exhibited throughout Wales. He works predominantly in stone or mixed media and regularly produces one-off sculptures on commission.
One of his most recent projects was a four metre tall wooden sculpture made from wood. The piece, entitled 'Pilgrim', now stands atop a hill overlooking the Strata Florida Abbey, a former Cistercian Abbey situated near Tregaron in the county of Ceredigion.
Harry Thomas
After being involved in the timber industry as a tree surgeon and a timber feller, Harry Thomas has always held an interest in wood and made the first step towards becoming a wood carver in 1992.
He is highly skilled in his use of chainsaws - he takes part in speed carving demonstrations - and uses several different types to ensure each exquisite wooden sculpture has the right level of detail.
Thomas' workshop and studio look out over the Hergest Ridge on the fringes of the Radnor Forest and he enjoys trying to recreate the animals that inhabit the countryside around him in a way that brings each piece to life for the viewer; adding a sense of character or movement in each sculpture.
Osprey Studios
Rebecca Buck, creator of Osprey Studios, is a sculptor with more than 30 years experience who specialises in making spectacular one-off pieces for a variety of settings; home, garden, gallery, public and memorial.
She spent her youth between Oxford in England and New York on the other side of the Atlantic, and - after graduating from Exeter College of Art and Design - continued to travel until the arrival of her oldest son anchored her to Britain in 1992. She made the move to Wales 14 years ago and is now based in Ynyswen on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Aside from her sculptures, Rebecca produces smaller items such as bowls and is available for commission work and tuition. Send us a message via our Contact Us page and we'll put you in touch with Rebecca to discuss it further.
Rachel Ricketts
Having receieved a varied education in art at Bournville School of Art, Birmingham and then Norwich School of Art, Rachel is now an established and well respected animaliere.
Before going on to create sculptures, though, Rachel spent time involved in the conservation of paintings and worked to restore frescoes up until the late 1990s.
Her sculptures are regularly exhibited in England and Wales, and her subjects range of domestic animals through to more exotic species.
Vincent Elphick
A former member of Platform One artist's group, Vincent is a well established sculptor operating from Bridgend in South Wales.
Vincent has a passion for emotive and spiritual art and sculpts most of his work in stones such as Welsh slate, soapstone, alabaster and marble. The choice of material is decisive in style of the piece he creates; softer stone lends itself to more fluid, beautiful pieces while harder rock is suited to stronger, graphically emotional sculptures.
His work has been exhibited throughout the UK and examples of his sculptures can now be found all across the world, including Australia, North America and mainland Europe. Vincent also gives stone carving workshops on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government.
