Toys & Games
Gothic Green Oak
Operating from the little village of Cefn Gorwydd not far from Llanwrtyd Wells, Gothic Green Oak specialise in producing authentic historical games.
From the Roman game of Ludus Latrunculorum to the Napoleonic pastime of Asalto, John Halter's recreations are a fascinating insight into the history of games and are still enjoyable today.
His sets are largely made using leather game boards and carefully crafted pieces using ceramics or wood to ensure each game's authenticity. As well as Roman and Napoleonic games, John recreates Viking, Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, Tudor and Civil War pastimes.
Kate's Soft Toys
From traditional rag dolls to dinosaurs, Kate Murray's company based in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains produces a great variety of high quality soft toys in all shapes and sizes.
All of the fabrics and stuffing used in the manufacturing process is sourced from the UK and every single toy is created on their premises, ensuring that the company retains a very small carbon footprint.
The soft and cuddly fleece that is used for the toys is made from PET recycled plastic bottles while the packaging that each item is sent out in is made from recycled paper, which can in turn be recycled again. These factors make Kate's soft toys not only brilliant for children but great for the environment too.
