Local Arts, Crafts, Tea and Cake all with a warm welcome
We came across Erwood Station over a year ago whilst passing along by the A470 and following the sign and our noses. In its beautiful and quiet setting alongside the River Wye Erwood Station is a great place to stop and relax. Inside we found a large display of local arts and crafts and excellent tea and cake. Since then we have stopped by on several occasions and also done a bit of volunteering. We always find stopping at Erwood a very enjoyable experience. Local Arts, Crafts, Tea and Cake all with a warm welcome.

25th Anniversary
Thank you for a most wonderful day to celebrate Twenty Five Years of Erwood Station's successful establishment. I was so moved by the tribute paid to its founder, Alan Cunningham, and by the hard work of his widow and sons, as well as by the Friends of Erwood Station, in creating such a generous, thoughtful, inclusive, pleasurable and well-attended day. It was wonderful to see so many different ages of people enjoying themselves, and so much good will and generosity being recipricated. The restored diesel engine was a wonderful presence, live music and dancing was enjoyed, Rhodri Morgan was effusive and I think the day ended with a river swim by the parking stewards. Something for everyone.

Second Generation
‘I have so many happy memories here; my parent brought me here every year of my childhood. I have carried on this tradition and brought my four month old daughter, and intend to continue doing so; who knows, she may also bring her children here!’ Ellie Chandler

Since 1988
‘We first came here well over twenty years ago – we felt that we had found a secret place – and came regularly, summer and winter, enjoying the river and walking, as well as the Craft Centre.
All our grandchildren are now grown up – we brought their first hand knitted Christmas stockings here, long before you could buy them in the supermarket!! The best was a 60th birthday party in the car park with family and friends, [which is] still remembered and talked about.
Lovely to come back and see all the improvements, it’s still a really lovely place.’

1947 snowstorm
‘I remember the 1947 snowstorm, and having to walk to the station over the drifts of snow to collect bread which was sent there by train from a shop in Talgarth. Coal also had to be collected from the station by the people from the area.
I’ve also heard that farm animals were transported to & from market by train[s] passing through this station.’ Tysil Williams, late of Cross House, Llandeilo
